The project involves identifying and listing hydropower plants under construction and operation in Nepal, followed by consultations with key stakeholders, including government agencies, Independent Power Producers, development partners, and local communities, to gather insights on hydropower development. Comprehensive assessments will be conducted to categorize issues related to construction and operation, covering technical, environmental, social, financial, and legal dimensions. Potential risks in these areas will be identified, and risk assessments will be performed using appropriate modeling techniques. Based on these findings, an implementation plan, strategies, and policy interventions will be developed to address identified challenges. Management frameworks will be prepared to support the execution of remedial measures, while an institutional framework will be established to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of risk mitigation efforts during the construction and operation of hydropower projects.
